Terms of Service
Effective: September 25, 2026
By using Civic Memory Vault you agree to these terms.
1. What CMV is
A platform to record personal memories, turn them into stories with AI help, and optionally gather contributions into shared Story Labs, operated by Life2Media, LLC.
2. Your account
You're responsible for your account and for the accuracy of what you provide. You must meet the minimum age (Section 7).
3. You own your content
You keep ownership of the memories, recordings, photos, and stories you create. You grant us only a limited license to store, process, and display your content as you direct — for example, to transcribe and summarize it, and to show it to the audiences you choose. Sharing is a grant of access, not a transfer of ownership. When you add a memory to a Story Lab, you grant the lab owner permission to include it in stories per the visibility you selected; you do not give up ownership, and you can withdraw it going forward. Organizations that run labs may organize and feature contributions — never own or alter their meaning.
4. Recording others & consent
Only record yourself, or people who have agreed to be recorded. If your memory names or depicts other people, you confirm you have the right to share it. We may remove content that violates others' rights.
5. AI-generated content
CMV uses AI to transcribe and to compose stories from your words. AI can make mistakes; the summary and storybook are derived from your transcript, which we retain so you can check and correct. You're responsible for reviewing what you publish.
6. Acceptable use
No illegal content, harassment, impersonation, or content that violates others' privacy or rights.
7. Minimum age (18+)
You must be 18 or older to create an account or use the app. CMV is not directed to children. Minors may participate only through our supervised in-school "Speak to Your Future" program, which requires school authorization and parent/guardian permission under applicable law — and never through a self-created account.
8. Contributions & guest leads
If you contribute as a guest and give an email to receive the finished storybook, we use it only for that purpose, as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers & liability
The service is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties and limit liability.
10. Changes, termination, contact
We may update these terms with notice. You can stop using CMV and delete your content anytime. Governing law: State of Texas. Contact: legal@civicmemoryvault.com.
